    Psychological (Psychoeducational) Assessments

An assessment is often recommended by school personnel when a child or teen is struggling to meet the curriculum expectations, and the school has already attempted numerous strategies to support the student. Other times, the family doctor may recommend an assessment when parents have discussed their concerns regarding their child or teen’s learning. Alternatively, parents may wish to gain a deeper understanding of their child/teen’s learning strengths and weaknesses to assist them the best they can. The assessment will explore the child’s cognitive functioning, behaviour, attention, and social-emotional functioning as needed.

    Intellectual & Gifted Assessments

Often, a child or teen who has presented with significant developmental concerns may require an assessment documenting their cognitive and adaptive functioning to access community supports (i.e., Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), Ontario Disability and Support Program (ODSP)) as they transition from secondary school to adulthood.

Other times, parents may request an assessment of their child or teen’s cognitive functioning to determine eligibility for gifted programming within their school board or to better understand how to support their child's unique learning style.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessments

Are you concerned about your child’s ability to sustain their attention and/or resist impulses? Do they struggle with executive functions, such as organization, planning, time management etc.? We can help you to determine if your child’s behaviour regulation skills are in line with age-expectations, or indicative of ADHD. If so, we will help you (and your child) to better understand the impact ADHD may have academically, socially and as your child ages.

    Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessments

Are you concerned that your child or teen may have Autism? Our assessments can help determine if your child or teen’s social functioning, emotional and behavioural dysregulation, and possible academic concerns may be due to an underlying Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
